Sigur Rós are celebrating this year’s Summer Solstice a little differently, you are invited to join them on a 24 hour live trip around Iceland’s coastal road via a Slow TV event being streamed live on Youtube now – a a 1332km trip.

On Monday this week in Redditich, Birmingham, Sigur Rós took to the stage for a final dress rehearsal for their brand new stage show with jónsi, orri and goggi on stage, their first live performance as a 3 piece.

Sigur Rós are to make an appearance in the popular HBO series Game of Thrones based on the fantasy novel by George R. R. Martin.

About a week ago, Sigur Ros released a trailer and not a lot else in way of information. Up until recently this new project was a mystery. The new project is in fact a double live album and 75 minute film. The full title is: INNI – THE DEFINITIVE SIGUR RÓS LIVE EXPERIENCE.

Northern Latitudes was inspired by two field recordings made by Chris Watson for a CD called ‘The Sea Ice Border’. It comprises of two recordings: 89 24 N Below and 89 24 N Above. Both feature in the mix at the beginning and end. The music in between was chosen based on the feel of those sounds.

The last thing that Sigur Rós placed up on Soundcloud was a Christmas track, then yesterday they uploaded three unreleased sets featuring an early 1999 demo of svefn-g-englar as well as ‘manipulations’ and demos of ágætis byrjun.

Since the release of Jonsi’s solo album go which we mentioned back in April the music press have been all over it. This was not suprising, taking into account the mammoth world tour and a stage set designed by 59 productions, bringing together the worlds of theatre and music.
