The Sidmouth Folk Festival has been awarded a grant as part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF) to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure they have a sustainable future.

Sidmouth Folk Festival is calling out to music lovers, performers, townsfolk and traders to champion its long-term future by backing a new fundraising campaign.

Sadly, Sidmouth Folk Festival has been cancelled for 2020 but plans are already underway for the 2021 Festival in which you can expect so much of what the festival audiences love about this grand old Festival.

Sidmouth Folk Festival has announced the first names for 2020 including Show of Hands, Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings, Eddi Reader, Home Service (with John Tams), Eliza Carthy including pre-festival shows featuring Steeleye Span and The Fisherman’s Friends.

Last year saw the release of You Never Were Much of a Dancer, the debut album from Welsh-born American primitivist Gwenifer Raymond. Watch her performing “Idumea” from the album, live in session at Sidmouth.

The first week of August sees the Devon town of Sidmouth reverberate to the Sounds Of Modern Scotland, thanks to the support that the long-running Sidmouth Folk Festival receives from Creative Scotland. The remainder of the week sees two phenomenal young Scots singers step into the Sidmouth spotlight.

I take a look at this year’s Sidmouth Folk Festival lineup and tried to come up with a list of recommended concerts and performances – no easy task considering the immense line-up. It’s quite unlike any other festival out there.

With Sidmouth Folk Festival just around the corner and The Ham venue grabbing much of the attention, it’s The Bulverton which is Sidmouth’s party central! From Late Night Extra ceilidhs and some of the most thrilling concert performances on the UK festival calendar.
