sharron kraus

Today, Sharron Kraus has released ‘Birdloom’, a project she began working on with electronic musician David Muddyman (aka Muud, Jamuud) 20 years ago and which features Spiers & Boden.

Impressively, with KIN, Sharron Kraus has managed to knit the two threads – seriousness and strangeness – together into one of the most rewarding, accomplished and unexpectedly moving albums of the year.

Taken from her new album KIN, watch the video for Sharron Kraus’s ‘The World Within the World’ – “…a still, quiet place that felt like it was inside us all along…there underneath the chaos and turmoil of everyday life.”

On ‘Swift Wings’, Justin Hopper & Sharron Kraus demonstrate a delicacy of thought and an ear for the finer detail that elevates the album above mere document. It is a fitting legacy for Victor Neuburg, a misunderstood poet, and a fine work of art in its own right.

Part Two of our Best Folk Albums of 2018 includes Ben Glover, Faeland, Shooglenifty, Brona McVittie, Emma Tricca, Glenn Jones, Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage, Rachael McShane, John Smith, Kacy & Clayton and lots more.

Today marks the release of Joy’s Reflection is Sorrow, the new album from Sharron Kraus which we’re celebrating with the premiere of her music video for the title track.

It’s refreshing when an album explores weighty themes with sincerity and gravitas, and even more so when the artist in question combines the personal with the abstract without diluting either.

This brilliant, eclectic and challenging new folk and experimental compilation has attracted a stellar cast of contributors while raising vital money for vulnerable young people in Southend. All in a very worthwhile cause.

Joy’s Reflection is Sorrow, the new album from Sharron Kraus is due for release on June 21st via Sunstone Records – a record that traverses the spiritual and emotional rhizomes of the human condition, soaring angelically on Sharron’s tapestry woven from traditional and experimental folk music.

Originally released in 2007 as a CD compilation by Mark Coyle, John Barleycorn Reborn: Dark Britannica has been re-issued on gold vinyl by Burning World Records. Ft. Sharron Kraus, The Owl Service, Pumajaw, The A Lords, The Kitchen Cynics and more.

This year’s Fanø Free Folk festival (21-23 July 2017) is looking greater than ever. Names include Ed Askew, Brigid Mae Power, Sutari, Dead Rat Orchestra, Stanley Brinks & Freschard, Sharron Kraus and more.
