Once again, this year, the team at Hands Up For Trad presented a magnificent event, celebrating the very best in Scots trad music from 2017. Neil McFadyen shares the highlights and winners from the evening.

To celebrate this year’s MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards we have a pair of tickets to giveaway for the award ceremony on Saturday 2nd December at Paisley’s Lagoon Centre. The night will be jam-packed with live performances – it will be a great night out.

When Hands Up For Trad, the organisation that promotes and supports developing talent in Scots traditional music, invited Folk Radio UK to attend this year’s MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards we knew we’d be in for a treat, and we weren’t disappointed. Shortlisted nominations have been unveiled for the 2016 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. The winners will be announced at the event on Saturday 3rd December, at the Caird Hall Dundee.

Hands Up for Trad today revealed that voting for this year’s MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards is now open and it’s up to the public to decide who they want to be nominated. Among the sterling list of nominees is the top 20 longlist for Scottish Traditional Albums of the Year 2016.

This year’s MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards at The Caird Hall in Dundee proved yet again it was the event of the year on the Scottish music calendar and we were fortunate enough to be there for it all!

Wherever you are tomorrow evening you’ll be able to watch the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. The Awards and Gala concert will be available to watch between 9pm and 11pm GMT from the iPlayer website.
