On the evidence of the music presented here by Saz’iso, Saze as a musical form undoubtedly warrants a wider exposure and should stand alongside son, marimba, fado etc. as being part of every discerning music-lover’s collection. This release is a dish to be savoured.
Following his first visit to Albania in 2014 Joe Boyd assembled a group of virtuoso musicians and legendary singers who went under the name of Saz’iso. This October sees the release of their long awaited album via Glitterbeat, recorded by Grammy-winning engineer Jerry Boys.
