Rupert Wates

While Rupert Wates doesn’t greatly depart from a basic framework on “Elegies’, the way he dances the notes within that are testament to his consummate skills…a hypnotic listening experience.

Rupert Wates returns to his roots in English folk music for his latest album which he says is “a love song to humanity”, the music “of the people, by the people, for the people”. Power to the people, indeed.

Cabaret is not an easy genre to pull off convincingly. However, drawing on a fairly diverse spectrum of influences Rupert Wates does a pretty good job.
