RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards

The nominations for the 7th RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards have been announced, including Róis, Lemoncello, Joshua Burnside, Lankum, Christy Moore, Ríoghnach Connolly, Landless, John Spillane, Niamh Bury and more.

It’s been another great year for Irish music and last night’s RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards saw wins for Ye Vagabonds, Cormac Begley, Susan O’Neill, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, the olllam and Cathal Ó Curráin.

The winner of this year’s RTÉ Radio 1’s Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 goes to Mary Black. The shortlist for this year’s Folk Awards has also been announced including Junior Brother, Clare Sands, Inni-K, Ye Vagabonds, Anna Mieke and lots more.

At last night’s RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards at Vicar Street, Dublin, winners included John Francis Flynn, Ye Vagabonds, Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin and Ultan O’Brien, Caoimhin O’Fearghaill and Mick Flannery & Susan O’Neill. Christy Moore was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award and Sarah Makem was posthumously inducted into the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards Hall of Fame.

The nominations for the 2020 RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards have been announced including a Lifetime Achievement Award for Steve Cooney.

Ye Vagabonds were the big winners RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards scooping three awards. Winners also included the incredible Lisa O’Neill, Saint Sister, Zoë Conway, Iarla Ó’Lionáird as well as Moya Brennan receiving a lifetime achievement award and Margaret Barry inducted into the Hall of Fame.
