Roddy Woomble

Idlewild have released the video for their forthcoming single Every Little Means Trust, starring Canadian actor and writer Jay Baruchel. Watch it here.

Coming up this month at Kings Place, London is a special Scottish weekend series of events featuring Roddy Woomble, Dick Gaughan, James Grant, Rura, Ewan McLennan, Sorren Maclean & Samantha Whates focusing on Scotland’s rich treasury of words and stories, and the strong tradition of songwriting.

While wide-eyed rock is the order of the day, Idlewild demonstrate they still have plenty of tricks up their sleeve on their latest offering ‘Everything Ever Written’.

We continue our look back at the Best Albums of 2013 including: Gavin Davenport, Bella Hardy, eagleowl, Thirty Pounds of Bone, Arborea and many more.

Roddy Woomble the erstwhile Idlewild-er has proved over a series of albums, with band, solo and in consort with others, to have a consummate gift for a tune. Listen to Keep is no exception!

A very special mix that just highlights some of the talent we are tapping into right now. Of course…it wouldn’t be a Folk Radio UK mix without some rare ones thrown in for good measure. Enjoy your weekend Folks!

In 2012 The Big Session is back on the festival scene after a year’s hiatus. Bigger (but still beautifully intimate) with an incredible line up to whet the appetite of any music lover!

Win tickets to this year’s Folk by the Oak at Hatfield House on Sunday 24th July plus wine from festival sponsor Casillero del Diablo! The line-up this year includes Seth Lakeman, Show of Hands, Drever, McCusker, Woomble with Heidi Talbot, Bella Hardy, Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman and Tyde!

The latest Folk Radio UK mix is titled ‘The Tradition’ and includes A.L. Lloyd singing alongside Jackie Oates (Walking with Ghosts project) as well as a mix of new and old from the likes of Alasadair Roberts, Mike Waterson, Martin Carthy, Hedy West, Jason Steel, Elle Osborne, Lucy Ward, Dougie Maclean and more.

Roddy Woomble (Idlewild), Kris Drever (Lau) and John McCusker are set to repeat their 2008 sell-out concert at Union Chapel on Wednesday 10th November and on Monday 8th November in Leeds.
