Littoral Zone feels like a landmark album in Adam Ross’s career, a kind of synthesis of the most impressive elements of his full band and solo work. In a fair world, this literate, funny, humane album would cement his status as a national treasure.

Staring At Mountains is a strangely visceral album on which we get to hear Adam Ross at his most open. It provides the richest and most detailed snapshot yet of the songwriting and thought processes…of one of Scotland’s most talented singers and songwriters.

Released on the 14th January via Olive Grove Records, watch a short film on the making of ‘Staring at Mountains’, the solo debut album from Adam Ross of Randolph’s Leap, which was filmed at Todhead Lighthouse and Kinneff Old Church in Aberdeenshire.

Our Song of the Day comes from Adam Ross of Scottish indie band Randolph’s Leap. Cairngorms is taken from his solo debut album ‘Staring at Mountains’ that will be released via Olive Grove Records in January 2022.

Recorded at home during the lockdown, Howling at the Sun feels like the much-needed companion to a season of uncertainty and isolation: it is by turns sad, cheering and reflective, and full of the melodic inventiveness, the freshness and, ultimately, the positivity we have come to expect from Randolph’s Leap.

Randolph’s Leap release The Isle of Love, a 21-track compilation CD of the songs from the stage play of the same name – a bittersweet tale of love, loss, recovery and discovery inspired by the songs of Adam Ross.

Ross says how he loves listening to music that has the artist’s fingerprints all over it.  If you feel the same, then you should get your grubby hands on this one – Unpolished and consciously reflecting what’s going on inside his head.

An extra long bonus mix featuring some of our latest favourites including: Trembling Bells, 9Bach, Stanley Brinks, My Bubba, Tom Rosenthal, jo Mango, Hiss Golden Messenger, Seamus Cater and many more.

Our Song of the Day is from Randolph’s Leap via their video premiere of ‘Under the Sun’, a new song taken from their second album Cowardly Deeds, out on May 20th!
