The strength of Mairearad Green & Rachel Newton’s distinctive boundary-pushing “Anna Bhàn” doesn’t lie in nostalgia…it is history in the very living sense of the word, ripe and ardent, and not afraid to look forward.

Sealladh highlights Rachel Newton’s gift for subsuming visual reference points within a musical purview, coming up with melodies that are disarming, deceptively simple and utterly beautiful.

Heal & Harrow is a refreshingly original & carefully-crafted album, with musicianship & compositions of the highest quality. It illuminates the injustices inflicted on so many innocent women in the past, as well as drawing parallels to ongoing misogynistic attitudes and behaviour.

On Tuesday 27 April 2021 Spell Songs will perform a unique live streamed concert to raise funds for the Natural History Museum’s Urban Nature Project. Beautifully produced, Rachel Newton’s “To The Awe” is a striking, pertinent, and entirely enthralling album. A powerful testament to the experiences of women through the ages.
