Accompanied by a music video, Kathryn Williams unveils ‘Tender’, a poignant new single with Polly Paulusma, from her forthcoming 15th studio album ‘Mystery Park’ (out September 26th). Returning to the sparse, affecting sound of her early work, the track explores the weight of feeling like an outsider. It’s the second glimpse into a deeply personal record featuring collaborators like Paul Weller and Ed Harcourt.

With poetic touchstones that range from the metaphysical and Shakespeare to Dickinson, Plath and Auden, Polly Paulusma’s Wildfires is unquestionably her masterpiece, which, like the title, burns and blazes, forged alike in the anguish and euphoria of love and life.

Just a few months on from the release of her stunning album ‘The Pivot On Which The World Turns’, Polly Paulusma has released a ‘sister’ album – ‘When Violent Hot Pitch Words Hurt’, that may even eclipse the original.

Featuring co-writes with Kathryn Williams, David Ford, and the novelist Laura Barnett, Polly Paulusma’s latest offering, The Pivot On Which The World Turns, is the work of a master songsmith.

A terrific traditional folk album and a fascinating insight into Angela Carter’s creative process and her own pretty much unknown involvement in the folk scene, one which will surely further expand Paulusma’s reputation and bring Carter’s writings to a whole new audience.

For her latest, Kathryn Williams pairs up with author Laura Barnett with a collection of songs based on her second novel, Greatest Hits. The diversity across the album is anchored by her smoky tones and the quality of her and Barnett’s lyrics.

Helen reviews Polly Paulusma latest release ‘The Small Feat of My Reverie’, in many ways a precursor to her 2012 release ‘Leaves From The Family Tree’.
