PG Six

Although there have only been six P.G. Six albums over a twenty-two-year period, they provide a definitive snapshot of the psych-folk genre. His latest, Murmurs & Whispers, is a nuanced, enthralling work that suggests this brilliant songwriter is hitting another career peak.

Pat Gubler, aka P.G. Six, chats to Folk Radio about his new album ‘Murmurs & Whispers’ – the artwork, songs and themes, Irish harp, folk music (including Maddy Prior, Bert Jansch and John Renbourn), collaborating with Sharron Kraus and more.

Watch the animated video (by Pat Gubler and Mayuko Fujino) for ‘I Have a House’, the new single from P.G. Six, taken from his forthcoming new album Murmurs & Whispers – Modern folk music at its most psychedelically progressive.

Murmurs & Whispers is the first proper album from P.G. Six since 2011’s Starry Mind. Listen to the album’s lead single ‘I Have Known Love’, a remarkably heartfelt and transcendent listen and our Song of the Day.

The Amish record label are to reissue P.G. Six’s 2001 solo debut ‘Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites’ as an expanded and remastered edition that includes an eight-song bonus LP entitled ‘Live Cuts and Radio Favorites’ documenting performances from the calendar year just before and after the release.

Song of the Day from Garcia Peoples – Likened by WFMU’s Jeff Conklin to The Dead’s tightest, most simple studio work, the Allmans’ most radio-friendly moments and the Band’s early 70s output…what’s not to like?
