Acclaimed Icelandic singer-songwriter Ólöf Arnalds announces her new album, Spíra, due out December 5th via Bella Union. The lead single, “Tár í morgunsárið” (“Tears at Dawn”), is a beautiful and haunting track where Arnalds reflects on the spiritual void left when she renounced Catholicism as a teenager. The new album is a stripped-back, intimate work that explores themes of love, creativity, and healing.

We continue our look at the Best Albums of 2013. In part 2 we include Jackie Oates, Jack Day, Blue Rose Code, The Leisure Society, Richard Thompson, Éamonn Coyne & Kris Drever & many more!

Remember the giddiness of spinning around, wide-eyed, arms flailing? And how trees blur into houses blur into people which keep spinning lazily even after you have stopped? That is what it feels like listening to Ólöf Arnalds’s third album Sudden Elevation.

It’s been a while since I sat down and did a mix. This mix was inspired by music that I listen to when I’m either out walking across woods and fields or working outside during the winter.

Ólöf Arnalds has a new album out on 13th Spetember titled Innundir Skinni. Check her latest videos for the new album below and get the latest UK Tour Dates:
