O’Hooley & Tidow

Today sees the release of Cloudheads, the superb new album from O’Hooley & Tidow. Watch their touching new video for ‘Matthew & Ted’, filmed in the woods near to their home. The duo are on tour for the next few months so try and see them if you can.

Cloudheads is O’Hooley & Tidow’s most personal and most contemplative work to date; glowing with the consummate musicianship they’ve crafted over the past 10 years, that international profile seems set to grow bigger still.

Probably one of their most moving songs to date, the much loved Yorkshire folk duo Belinda O’Hooley and Heidi Tidow share their video for ‘Cloudheads’, their new single and the title track of their forthcoming album.

O’Hooley & Tidow have captured the pride of the Pennines in a specially commissioned song for the launch of a new park. Watch the accompanying video for ‘Chimneys, Moors and Me’.

Celebrating an incredible and eventful decade together, O’Hooley and Tidow announce new live album recorded at St George’s in Bristol earlier this year.

O’Hooley & Tidow’s song ‘Gentleman Jack’ will feature as the closing theme song for each episode of Sally Wainwright’s BBC/HBO drama ‘Gentleman Jack’.  Starring Suranne Jones as 19th Century diarist, writer, traveller, mountaineer, rural gentlewoman, and industrialist Anne Lister.

O’Hooley and Tidow return with their WinterFolk tour next month and for those that missed it, you can also watch the full performance of The Passerine from this year’s Shrewsbury Folk Festival which was led by the duo and featured Avital Raz, Michele Stodart & more.

The Ballad of Child Migration takes to the road in November 2018 featuring an All-star cast with award-winning folk artists: John McCusker, Michael McGoldrick, Boo Hewerdine, O’Hooley & Tidow, Chris While, Julie Matthews, John Doyle, Jez Lowe, Andy Seward, Andy Cutting and narrated by Barbara Dickson.

This week’s show is largely Christmas / Winter themed featuring festive music from Johnny Cunningham & Susan McKeown, Maggie Boyle & Gary Boyle, Sufjan Stevens, as well as new music from Kate Rusby, O’Hooley & Tidow, Peatbog Faeries and Damien O’Kane.

The beauty and importance of this album lies partly in the fact that O’Hooley and Tidow recognise that an appreciation of this time of year – whether you want to call it Christmastime or not – is based on both personal and universal factors. This is an album of frosted beauty with a heart as warm as a coal fire.

O’Hooley and Tidow, Lady Maisery and the irrepressible Grace Petrie take to the stage again to celebrate International Women’s Day. We talk to Belinda O’Hooley about the tour and more.
