Don’t miss Normafest – a wonderful weekend in celebration of all things to do with folk music legend Norma Waterson in early January. Featuring: Stick in the Wheel, Lynched, The Furrow Collective, The Gift Big Band which will include Norma, Martin Carthy, Eliza Carthy, Neill MacColl & special guest Richard Hawley.

This coming January Scarborough Spa Theatre hosts a unique event celebrating the “grande dame” of British folk music Norma Waterson MBE along with the extended Waterson/Carthy dynasty and some very special friends and guests.

Joy of Living pays tribute to iconic folk singer, songwriter and activist Ewan MacColl with a host of performers from the world of folk music and beyond including Karine Polwart, members of the Waterson: Carthy clan, Christy Moore, Steve Earle & more!

Joy of Living is a Tribute album to Ewan MacColl which features performances from an all-star cast including Waterson:Carthy, The Unthanks, Dick Gaughan, Martin Simpson and Jack Steadman & Jamie MacColl performing ‘The Young Birds’, our Song of the Day.

Named after a Sheffield landmark, Richard Hawley’s eighth studio album, Hollow Meadows, finds one of Britain’s greatest songwriters in good company, including Martin Simpson, Jarvis Cocker and Nancy Kerr for one of his finest albums yet.

Our Song of the Day is Richard Hawley’s Heart Of Oak, a heartfelt tribute to those that have nurtured and influenced him including Norma Waterson who is directly referenced in the lyrics. It’s taken from his new album Hollow Meadows which features Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr and Jarvis Cocker.

Towersey Festival announce double celebration for their 50 years and 75 Years Of Topic Records with a concert hosted by Norma Waterson, Eliza Carthy and The Gift Band.

The BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winners for 2011 were announced tonight following during an award ceremony which went out live. There were many highlights of the evening as well as double wins for Chris Wood as well as Eliza Carthy and norma Waterson. Ewan McLennan also managed to pick up the Horizon Award!
