Mícheál Ó Domhnaill

First released in 1974, Mick Hanly and Mícheál Ó Domhnaill’s “Celtic Folkweave” slipped under the radar, picking up a cult following in later years. Beautifully presented, re-mastered and including previously unreleased tracks, this folk classic is finally getting the attention it has long deserved.

Some fine vintage folk in this week’s mix from the likes of Sandy Denny, Michael Raven and Joan Mills, Skara Brae and more. There is some dabbling in psych courtesy of Ben Tweddell’s Twelve Hides which was released in August as well as Toby Hay’s new EP which we recently featured in an exclusive first listen. All this and lots more along with extensive track notes.

Our Song of the Day is from 1974 and performed by Mícheál Ó Domhnaill in the guise of Monroe, a duo he was in with Limerick singer and guitarist Mick Hanly.
