This month saw the release of M G Boulter’s new album, Days of Shaking. He is our latest Off the Shelf guest in which we ask artists to present objects from a shelf or shelves in their homes and talk about them. 

With ‘Days of Shaking,’ M G Boulter takes a deep dive into the darkest corners and the toughest dreams and nightmares that visit during those nocturnal hours. Aiming high, he has taken time to create a full-length work that demands and rewards deep immersion.

Backed by an outstanding cast of musicians, M G Boulter takes Clifftown on the road this October, capturing the essence of the everyday seaside suburbia. The show includes short documentary films shot especially for the show by acclaimed director Andrew Delaney.

Jenny Sturgeon & M G Boulter have released their first single together, inspired by dusty keepsakes pocketed on walks, left on bookshelves as memories and the science of soundwaves, deep space and time, ‘Flint Knapped’ combines their love of history, nature and staring at the night sky.

On A Shadow Falls Over New Brighton, M G Boulter takes the intrinsically familiar and makes it fresh, vital and poetic. The haunting potency of nostalgia lingers long here. It’s an evocative and entirely hypnotic blend.

Following on from the release of M G Boulter’s highly acclaimed album Clifftown, he announces ‘A Shadow Falls Over New Brighton’ EP that delves further into seaside suburbia and vignettes of ordinary life. Listen to the opening title track.
