Providing thoughtful commentary on how the news is obtained and reported and a potted live Megson concert, “The Herald” album most certainly warrants getting some metaphorical ink on your fingers.

“What Are We Trying To Say?” is Megson’s thirteenth album and their first studio recording in four years. Despite the title, they do know what they’re trying to say and do so entertainingly and pithily…seek it out.

Taken from their forthcoming ‘Unknown’ Waters album featuring nine songs written by their favourite north eastern songwriters, Megson share the accompanying video for their cover of Chris Rea’s Road to Hell.

Megson are releasing a covers album in early 2022 titled ‘Unknown Waters’ featuring songs by Jez Lowe, Richard Grainger, Graeme Miles, Vin Garbutt, Chris Rea and Ruth Copeland. They are taking pre-orders now for those that want it early.

Megson share video for their latest single Every Little Night, their promise that even after the darkest of nights the sun will always rise again.

As demonstrated at The David Hall, Megson continue to build and develop their strong sense of identity – from the delights of caravanning to the plight steel industry, they know how to entertain a crowd.

It is no overstatement to say that Contradicshun is a masterpiece of shared creativity, the fullest flowering of a partnership that has been nurtured for fifteen years. It is Megson’s most complete album and their best to date.

Megson release ‘The Megson Songbook’, the book spans the length of their songwriting partnership, from their very first song ‘Just Stay’ written in 2004 to the songs in their latest album ‘Good Times Will Come Again’. Listen to some of their favourite tunes in their Tour Playlist and catch them on tour.

Four times nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, revered duo Megson hit the road once again in 2017, with a string of dates booked across the UK through September, October and November for their “Pushing On” tour.

Our Song of the Day is from Megson via their new video for Generation Rent which coincides with the release of their new single. They are on tour now nad have just announced a number of additional dates.

Megson head out on tour in support of their latest album ‘Good Times Will Come Again’. An album whose songs are “important, often vital subjects…very few others in any genre of music have the courage to raise them, let alone fill a whole album’s worth.”
