Arborist’s “Looking For Love” explores love and its absence, using Belfast as a microcosm for the wider world. It is Mark McCambridge’s first self-produced record, made in his home studio with help from old friends. The record features some beautiful poetry, and McCambridge sets an extraordinarily high bar for composition, songwriting, and arrangement.

Arborist shares “The Taming of Horses,” and announces his first self-produced album, Looking For Love, due via Fika Recordings. Belfast songwriter Mark McCambridge wrote the track during late nights watching Jacob Bronowski’s The Ascent of Man. Lush Hammond organ gives the song a sprawling, sophisticated feel — simultaneously disquieting and uplifting.

Arborist, the project of Belfast songwriter Mark McCambridge, has shared a video for new single “Looking 4 Love”. Arpeggio harp and a piano motif borrowed from Jacques Brel’s 1961 song “Marieke” puncture a taut, straight rhythm and droning harmonium. There is menace in the atmosphere, but McCambridge offers a hand to guide the listener through Belfast’s darker corners.
