Filmed and produced by Terry McMahon, watch the video for Lorcan Mac Mathuna’s “A Bhean Úd Thíos”, a Sean Nós song about fairy abduction. It was filmed in a Belcarra Eviction Cottage besides Castlebar in Co. Mayo, a place that seemed to incite the film.

Our Song of the Day comes from FRUK favourite, Lorcán Mac Mathúna. He recently wrote this song from the poetry of Francis Ledwidge, an Irish poet who was killed in Passchendaele on July 31, 1917.

Lorcán Mac Mathúna’s latest album, Visionaries 1916, which is due to be released in October, honours the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising through a creative musical use of their words.

The video includes some lovely footage of Galway hookers, a traditional fishing boat used in Galway Bay off the west coast of Ireland.
