Landless

The nominations for the 7th RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards have been announced, including Róis, Lemoncello, Joshua Burnside, Lankum, Christy Moore, Ríoghnach Connolly, Landless, John Spillane, Niamh Bury and more.

Their talent as vocalists and harmonists is at the heart of Landless’s immense appeal. Lúireach is a reliquary of rich, dramatic tales and a celebration of resolutely feminist togetherness, yet another triumph for the fantastically productive Irish folk scene.

Irish quartet Landless share their new single and video “Death and the Lady”, adapted from the singing of Norma Waterson who believed that the singing of it may have dated back to the time of the Black Death plague in the fourteenth century.

Irish Quartet Landless, featuring Lily Power, Méabh Meir, Ruth Clinton and Sinéad Lynch, announce new album ‘Lúireach’ and share video for The Fisherman’s Wife – a song written by Ewan MacColl for the 1960 BBC Radio Ballad ‘Singing the Fishing’.

Poor Creature is the new project from Ruth Clinton of Landless and Cormac MacDiarmada of Lankum. While taking inspiration from the Irish tradition, their approach is experimental, edgy and refreshingly original.

Part Three of our Best Folk Albums of 2018 includes Landless, Gwenifer Raymond, Jim Ghedi, Stick in the Wheel, Ross Ainslie, Fara, Sarah Louise, Jack Hayter, The Left Outsides, Nathan Bowles and more.

Subtlety and grace abound in this album. There is something about voices in harmony that make you feel good – and Landless have this to perfection. There are no airs and graces, just beautiful harmonies, their sound uplifting and spiritual, even ethereal.

The second in our new Folk Show featuring new music from Jack Rutter, Georgia Lewis, Cormac Begley, Dempsey Broughton, John Smith, Lal & Mike Waterson & more. You Folk Music Bread & Butter.
