Our Song of the Day comes from the debut album of Owl Service splinter group Greanvine. Listen to them performing Child Among the Weeds, a song written by the wonderful Lal Waterson.

In part 5 of our Best Albums of 2013 we feature Lal Waterson, Lisa Knapp, The Full English, Dan Haywood, The R.G. Morrison, Ruth Theodore, Barrule, Aidan O’Rourke and more.

Marry Waterson talks exclusively to FRUK about bringing together Lal’s astonishing archive for the beautiful CD and book set ‘Teach me to be a Summer’s Morning’ & the joys of the Bright Phoebus Revisited tour.

Our Song of the Day is a lovely cover of a Lal Waterson song called ‘To Make You Stay’. It featured on a 2007 covers tribute and is performed by The Memory Band featuring the lovely voice of Nancy Wallace.

Beautifully packaged, Teach Me To Be A Summer’s Morning is a loving portrait, created by a daughter in memory of her late mother. It captures a creative spark that could light an inferno.

We are incredibly honoured to be able to première this very special short animation by Marry Waterson which accompanies one of Lal Waterson‘s previously unreleased songs, ‘Piper’s Way’.

The Music and Migration series seeks to capture the fleeting magic of migration in song. That it has now reached its third instalment is a testament to the quality of material its subject inspires.

In October 2013, ‘Bright Phoebus Revisited’ will draw together the remaining members of the Waterson family plus some very special guests in a unique celebration of the life and work of Lal and Mike through their music.

Whilst on her European travels, Lancashire lass, Nancy Elizabeth, recorded an interview in Portugal on which she gives some honest and open insights into her work.
