Mystery Park is Kathryn Williams’s 15th studio album and, arguably, her most open and tender in its emotions, delivery and words. René Magritte once said, “Art evokes the mystery without which the world would not exist”. Williams makes it a walk in the park.

Accompanied by a music video, Kathryn Williams unveils ‘Tender’, a poignant new single with Polly Paulusma, from her forthcoming 15th studio album ‘Mystery Park’ (out September 26th). Returning to the sparse, affecting sound of her early work, the track explores the weight of feeling like an outsider. It’s the second glimpse into a deeply personal record featuring collaborators like Paul Weller and Ed Harcourt.

To mark the announcement, Williams has shared a new single, ‘Personal Paradise’, released alongside a video by Emma Holbrook. The album was created in collaboration with several trusted artists, including Leo Abrahams, Neill MacColl, Polly Paulusma, Chris Vatalaro, Ed Harcourt, David Ford, and Paul Weller.

With ‘Willson Williams,’ one might be tempted to conclude that Kathryn Williams and Dan Willson are bringing out the best in each other. Despite the melancholy that both typically lean into, there is a feeling of dual purpose and fun resonating through all these tracks.

In February 2022, Mark Radcliffe of Radio 2’s The Folk Show launched 21st Century Folk. These songs are revealed for the first time today. The artists involved are Martyn Joseph, Thea Gilmore, The Young’uns, Chris Difford with Kathryn Williams, and Angeline Morrison with The Unthanks.

With Night Drives, Kathryn Williams continues to evolve her craft, finding ways to intrigue and find touchstones outside the commonplace.
