South Yorkshire’s Underneath the Stars Festival is organised by the family production team of acclaimed Yorkshire folk singer-songwriter Kate Rusby. Now in its fifth year, Kate talks to us about what makes a great festival in 2018.

Heading this year’s Underneath the Stars (20th – 22nd July 2018 Cinderhill Farm, Yorkshire) line-up are Grammy Award-winning songwriter and activist Steve Earle with his band The Dukes, as well as Barnsley born and bred Kate Rusby and more.

We caught up with Kate Rusby while on her Christmas tour, she reflects on what’s behind these special celebrations, the family and friends who take part, and her approach to the music itself. We also talk about her glittering, fun-filled new album Angels and Men and share her new video.

This week’s show is largely Christmas / Winter themed featuring festive music from Johnny Cunningham & Susan McKeown, Maggie Boyle & Gary Boyle, Sufjan Stevens, as well as new music from Kate Rusby, O’Hooley & Tidow, Peatbog Faeries and Damien O’Kane.
