Karl Blau

Karl Blau’s Vultures of Love is an album that deserves to be listened to all the way through: when taken together, the hectic elements that make up each individual song coalesce into something whole (and strangely wholesome), and that’s a beautiful thing to experience.

Our Song of the Day is ‘Now & Then’, the new single from Queens, NY, musician Wolf van Elfmand featuring the legendary Karl Blau. The song is a simple yearning for some good fortune.

Karl Blau has just unveiled his upcoming solo album, “Vultures of Love”. Watch the accompanying homespun video for lead single, “Pasadena,” which draws inspiration from a friend’s breakup and the subsequent longing for reconnection.

Produced by his son Tucker Martine and joined by guests that include Peter Buck, Bill Frisell, Laura Veirs, k.d. lang and Karl Blau. Music Man clearly demonstrates that the 81-year-old veteran Nashville-based songwriter Layng Martine Jr can sing them as well as write them.

With a psychedelic soulful swell, we are greeted by Opal Eskar’s ‘The Woodsman’, the latest collaborative project from the prolifically diverse DIY icon Karl Blau – lo-fi and musically wonky but warm and inviting.
