Jonathan Day

We join Jonathan Day on the road for a series of guest posts written during his Atlantic Drifter launch tour. We join him as he arrives in China to perform in Gangzhou and Shenzhen.

Atlantic Drifter is the latest album from FRUK favourite Jonathan Day… It has an air of quiet self-assurance which negates the need for any superfluous bells and whistles. The music exists in and of itself yet remains both approachable and absorbing; placeless but grounded, timeless and yet somehow outside time.

Jonathan Day is currently touring, pre-viewing his new album Atlantic Drifter, to be released by Proper in September this year from which you can watch his new video for ‘Sea Full of BIrds,’ our Song of the Day.

Jonathan Day talks to Folk Radio UK about music and travelling: There’s something magical about travelling with music. Perhaps because music is itself the closest thing we have to magic…

The latest Folk Radio UK mix is titled ‘The Tradition’ and includes A.L. Lloyd singing alongside Jackie Oates (Walking with Ghosts project) as well as a mix of new and old from the likes of Alasadair Roberts, Mike Waterson, Martin Carthy, Hedy West, Jason Steel, Elle Osborne, Lucy Ward, Dougie Maclean and more.

Jonathan Day’s ‘Carved in Bone’ is definately in the exceptional league and sets a very high standard that should bring him the much deserved wider recognistion across the folk circuit. This is a great album to get lost within.
