Rain Dries Your Eyes is a sizeable and well-chosen anthology from Jason McNiff. A timely reminder of the talents of one of our most underappreciated musicians and singers – there is a clarity of purpose here that is rarely found, let alone maintained throughout a decade or so of music making.

Our Song of the Day is ‘I Remember You,’ the first single to be taken from singer-songwriter Jason McNiff’s forthcoming double CD retrospective anthology. Lilting and upbeat, the song showcases McNiff’s simple-yet-powerful acoustic guitar work partnered with an enticing folk-pop melody that makes it an instant classic.

With a shared appreciation of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, Emma Tricca and Jason McNiff have created a hugely enjoyable and relaxed album. At under 25 minutes, it’s all too short, so here’s hoping for a full-length follow-up.
