2016 has been a busy year for James Yorkston with the release of Everything Sacred (Yorkston Thorne Khan), the publication of his debut novel, and his ‘Tae Sup wi’ a Fifer’ shows. Time for those Christmas tour dates – his first solo tour of England since 2013.

This weeks mix finds a strong Scottish contingent including two of Lau’s players with tracks from Aidan O’Rourke’s latest Imprint (E.P Series 2.0) and Martin Green’s Flit. Yorkston Thorne Khan head out on a tour of Ireland in August with support from Seamus Fogarty and they also play this year’s Edinburgh International Festival. Watch their recent performance of Sufi Song at the Tolbooth in Stirling.

James Yorkston’s ‘Tae Sup wi’ a Fifer’ returns to Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy this Spring with diverse line-ups that include Martin Carthy and Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip.

With Everything Sacred Yorkston, Thorne and Khan have created an album that bristles with inventiveness and skill, one that is more than the sum of its already impressive parts.

The good people at Lost Map Records recorded this lovely session recently featuring Withered Hand, James Yorkston & The Pictish Trail performing ‘Life of Doubt‘ which we’ve chosen as our Song of the Day. They are all on tour together in January.

Our Song of the Day is Sufi Song from the experimental group Yorkston/Thorne/Khan which features James Yorkston, Suhail Yusuf Khan and Jon Thorne. It’s from their forthcoming new album ‘Everything Sacred’
