Jack Sharp

Jack Sharp, in his “post apocalyptic downer folk-rock” side project Large Plants, explores the natural world and his inner thoughts on his prickly sophomore release, The Thorn.

Last week, Jack Sharp released his full-length debut as a solo artist ‘Good Times Older’, watch him performing the title track live – a subtle examination of nostalgia, memory and loss.

Today marks the release of Jack Sharp’s new album Good Times Older, watch his new video for Treecreeper, a tribute to one of Britain’s most beautiful and elusive birds.

Good Times Older is a winner on many fronts but it also gives us some idea of just how gifted Jack Sharp is as a singer and interpreter of song. We can only hope that his foray into the world of traditional music continues.

Taken from his forthcoming solo album Good Times Older Jack Sharp shares video for his new single ‘White Hare’ on which he is joined by Ian Carter of Stick in the Wheel. They set off at a pace as the White Hare evades all the dogs of England.

Good Times Older is Jack Sharp’s first solo album, following 13 years fronting psych-rock band Wolf People. It’s a nod to, but is not defined by, the 1960s revivalists like Martin Carthy and Nic Jones. Listen to lead single Lacemaker.

Stick In The Wheel return with their second volume of explorations and collaborations with “Against The Loathsome Beyond”, featuring collaborations with C Joynes, Jack Sharp and Cinder Well.

This week’s Folk Show features rituals, Cuckoos, poachers, Lapwings, Gypsies and a Golden Plover to name just a few of the themes that crop up in the folk songs we’ve pulled together. We’ve also got a sneak peek at some advance releases from Martin Simpson, Tom Russell, The Young’uns and Mairearad Green and Mike Vass plus more.
