Da Fishing Hands, the latest release from Inge Thomson, saw its debut performance on Fair Isle in May 2014, this short film documents that performance and provides background to a project which ultimately aims to protect the marine environment around the Island and for it to be sustainably managed as it has been historically by Fair Isle folk.

Da Fishing Hands is a resounding creative success on a number of levels. Inge Thomson and her collaborators have painted a vivid picture of a changed and changing community. It’s as much an important historical document as it is a powerful artistic statement and, above all, a mesmerisingly beautiful record with top class musicians including Sarah Hayes, Fraser Fifield, Steven Polwart and Graeme Smillie.

Martin Green’s Crows’ Bones is a genuine collaboration with Inge Thomson, Becky Unthank and Nicklas Roswall. Adrian Utley and Calum Malcolm act as Ghost Busters in chief.

Inge Thomson recently took some time out from Crows’ Bones for Baylis Gray to record this special session in which she performs ‘Cycle’ from her 2010 debut album Shipwrecks & Static.
