Hiss Golden Messenger

Hiss Golden Messenger have stumbled upon a weird kind of alchemy; through their sense of magic, they are able to bind belief with reality in a way that lets you know there is only one choice: Jump for Joy.

Hiss Golden Messenger announce their new album ‘Jump for Joy‘ and share the video for their first single “Nu-Grape”. You can hear Aoife O’Donovan and Amy Helm on the chorus that channels American poet Mary Oliver. Musically, lyrically, and conceptually, it is unlike any previous album.

Recorded earlier this year at The Neptune, Seattle, Hiss Golden Messenger has released “Wise Eyes”, the first in a series of live releases. The 17-track album includes deep cuts and crowd favourites, plus barn-burning renditions of Merle Haggard’s “Mama Tried” and the Grateful Dead’s “Bertha.”

Revelators Sound System (the new project from MC Taylor and Cameron Ralston) share new track and video ‘Grieving’, an emotional response to what it feels like to be an American today.

MC Taylor (Hiss Golden Messenger) stretches his wings on Revelators Sound System, a new collaborative project with Cameron Ralston. Watch the video made by Moses Sun and Bill Jones to accompany ‘George the Revelator’ that was composed the day after George Floyd was murdered.

You won’t find a Christmas bell anywhere on Hiss Golden Messenger’s O Come All Ye Faithful. The songs are both reflective and surprising, fitting the season and highlighting the way forward towards the spring and a new year.

“Quietly Blowing It” is beautifully played with melodies and hooks that take up instant lodgings in the brain and lyrics that cut to the heart and soul, this may be Hiss Golden Messenger’s best yet.

Hiss Golden Messenger shares Dylan-inspired video for Hardlytown – “Maybe the conversation that the mother and son have throughout ‘Hardlytown’ was my attempt to reckon with the tension that exists between selflessness and selfishness.”

Hiss Golden Messenger has announced details of his new album Quietly Blowing It, news of which was accompanied by a video for “If It Comes in the Morning” with another great video directed by The KidEthnic.

Our Song of the Day comes from Hiss Golden Messenger with a soulful new track “Sanctuary” – watch the accompanying KidEthnic-directed music video which features Taylor singing of reconciliation and hope.

Having someone you can count on is of the utmost of importance these days and no one appreciates that more than M.C. Taylor and Hiss Golden Messenger. Forward, Children provides a testament to the unsung heroes who provide for our collective future.

I could say that Terms of Surrender is infectious, intelligent and bewitching, but more than that, its just SO SO GOOD!!…the backbeat, the rhythm guitars, the hooks, but most of all the infectious and laid back tone and phrasing of lead man, M.C. Taylor
