American Primitive Guitar pioneer Harry Taussig will release his new album ’80’ via Tompkins Square on his 82nd birthday. He reflects on how he wanted to extend the American folk guitar tradition into previously unexplored territories and how he did so through theories of classical musical forms.
To mark the 50th anniversary of John Fahey’s Takoma label ‘Contemporary Guitar – Spring ’67’ the Tompkins Square label has issued The Music of Harry Taussig and Max Ochs. To their credit these are all new recordings.
On May 26th, Tompkins Square will release The Music of Harry Taussig & Max Ochs featuring newly recorded material commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Takoma sampler they first appeared on. The pair will also meet for the first time and play select shows on the West Coast.
