Hannah Read has shared a video for Silverphae, the first single from her concept album ‘The Fungi Sessions Vol. 1‘ on which she explores the marriage of mycology and music.

Hannah Read announces the release of her concept album ‘The Fungi Sessions Vol. 1’, a collection of fungi-inspired instrumental compositions, written in tribute to her father, a prominent Mycologist and pioneering fungal cell biologist.

Taken from their forthcoming album Cross the Rolling Water, watch Hannah Read and Michael Starkey performing a cover of Anais Mitchell’s Shenandoah. The agile, stripped-back combination of banjo and guitar amplifies the emotion carried in Hannah’s vocals which really brings this heartfelt song alive.

The beginning of 2016 saw the release of the Songs of Separation album, a project featuring Jenny Hill, Eliza Carthy, Hannah James, Hannah Read, Hazel Askew, Jenn Butterworth, Karine Polwart, Kate Young, Mary Macmaster and Rowan Rheingans. Songs of Separation is a superlative and essential record, from its initial concept through to the final result; it’s a huge accomplishment by anybody’s standards and all involved have every right to feel justifiably proud of their achievement.
