Kent Folk-rock sextet Galley Beggar’s latest album does a damn good job of consolidating the tradition that began with Fairport Convention back in the late 60s.

Folk Radio UK launch The Levels Collective. A live music night starting in October 2014. First acts booked: Mairearad Green & Anna Massie / Galley Beggar / Bill Caddick / Sproatly Smith.

Six-piece folk-rock band Galley Beggar have announced that they will be sharing the stage with fellow Psych-folk rockers Circulus next month at Amersham Arms in New Cross.

For many young folk music fans Galley Beggar may well be their first introduction to British folk-rock and I can’t think of a finer or better band out there to carry the revival banner.

Many of you will by now be familiar with the early inspired English Folk Rock sound of Galley Beggar whose album, Reformation House, we reviewed back in June. They have put together a fantastic session for your enjoyment which you can listen to below.

Galley Beggar are a six piece folk rock band obssessed with the old sound from the likes of Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Nick Drake, Jethro Tull, Fotheringay, Bert Jansch and Pentangle. Their debut album Reformation House is a step forward from that magical period of folk music history.
