Freda D'Souza

“and remade” is Freda D’Souza’s looping sonic poem, drawn from an installation she built as an act of resistance against enforced clock time. Written across a solstice on a Mersea houseboat and sonified through a solar-powered cassette, each digital download comes with a one-off cyanotype stop-motion film frame.

Freda D’Souza’s ‘Windowledge’ is one of the most accomplished debuts of recent times: not just full of promise but perfectly formed in its own right. The fact that she supported Mount Eerie earlier this month is pertinent: these songs, like those of Phil Elverum, whisper fiercely.

Freda D’Souza announces her debut EP Windowledge. Watch the accompanying video to the title track – written at age 19, the song sees its writer on the precipice of both a new phase of life and an incipient, all-consuming relationship.
