After a long wait, the Fèis Rois Ceilidh Trail will be making a return this summer – a pioneering traditional music programme which has seen the involvement of the likes of Julie Fowlis, Rachel Newton, Kim Carnie and Brìghde Chaimbeul over the years.
Highland geology forms part of the inspiration behind ‘Gneiss’, a new album by fiddler Iain Fraser to celebrate 30th anniversary of the Fèis Rois nan Inbheach (Adult Fèis Rois).
To mark this year’s virtual Fèis Rois festival, two concerts will be shown on BBC ALBA, the first featuring Lauren MacColl’s The Seer and the second will showcase performances from SIAN, Mairearad & Anna and Project Smok.
Fèis Rois is releasing a double album featuring music from former Cèilidh Trail participants and hosting an online extravaganza to celebrate the occasion.
This year’s MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards shortlist is announced and voting is now open to the public. We’ve put together a preview of many of the nominations which you can listen to here.
