fatoumata diawara

Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actress Fatoumata Diawara has shared a new video for ‘Blues’ featuring world-renowned pianist Roberto Fonseca. Fatoumata calls on the djinn spirits, protectors of our family, community and country to thank them for their protection.

Fatoumata Diawara releases new video “Djonya” (Slavery) to denounce the atrocities perpetrated against the migrants coming mostly from sub-Saharan Africa and on the other hand to provide a glimmer of hope to all those who are victims of these modern times.

It is the story of two great friends, women, artists, and Africans, whose life rhymes with nomadism, openness, and freedom: Hindi Zahra, Moroccan of Berber and Tuareg origin, and Fatoumata Diawara born in Côte d’Ivoire of Malian parents.
