Sky Arts is to broadcast a major television documentary titled ‘Fairport Convention: Folk Heroes’ to mark the fiftieth anniversary of legendary folk-rock band. The film features rare archive interviews and footage as well as newly-filmed interviews with the current Fairport members and others.

Ric Sanders shares some his Fairport Convention and Cropredy moments including the first time he played in 1986, Robert Plant turning up to a warm-up gig and all those Cropredy dogs.

Trawling through these lost songs I never thought would see the light of day was definitely a favourite aspect of this release. But no one would describe it as one of the best Fairport Convention albums…

July 28th sees the release of this lavish Fairport Convention CD box set, Come All Ye – The First 10 Years. Beginning with their eponymous debut for Polydor in 1968, through to 1978. It features 55 previously unreleased tracks.
