Scout Niblett’s new album ‘It’s Up To Emma’ is all about departure, about cutting free – sometimes violently – and starting again, albeit with a bitter residue. FRUK backed Scout Niblett into a corner for a chat.

Tu Fawning have been tipped by their label, Drag City, as the most eccentric band in Portland and provide a classic description of their sound: “dramatically colored soundscapes and indigo tinted dreams make David Lynch movies look like Disney parodies”. Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy has released a digital only single titled ‘Quail & Dumplings’. The single features a track from the forthcoming album Wolfroy Goes to Town as well as some bonus tracks. Watch the video featuring Nina Nastasia!

This is an excellent album, and one that provides a vivid visualisation of salty sea and sunrise. A story of America as narrated by a 21st Century voice that feels so wisely ancestoral in its huskiness.
