Tomorrow night marks the 100th online concert that Scottish singer songwriter Dougie MacLean will have performed since March 2020. The concert takes place within the Old School attached to his home and studio in the tiny village of Butterstone, Perthshire.

We look back to the BBC Folk Awards 2013 in Glasgow…as an incredibly star-studded cast join Dougie Maclean for a passionate rendition of Caledonia.

Dougie MacLean celebrates his forty years as a recording artist in style at The Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow. Neil shares in the experience of this special one-off evening.

To mark his 40th anniversary as a musician Dougie MacLean is to release a new album in collaboration with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Till Tomorrow is released on 23rd June 2014.

Neil McFadyen pays tribute to the man from Lochee, the bard of Dundee, the unique and irreplaceable Michael Marra who passed away peacefully at the city’s Ninewells Hospital earlier this week.

It was great news to hear that Richard Thompson was to receive an OBE earlier but then I heard Dougie Maclean was to also receive an OBE which is fantastic news and about time I can hear many of you say!

The long-awaited second album from Breabach titled The Desperate Battle of the Birds is due for release on 22nd March. Breabach caught the attention of Folk Radio UK and many celtic folk music fans back in 2007 with release of their debut album “The Big Spree”. They had a very clear Scottish stamp on their work thanks to a great line-up as well as a double bagpipes.
