Dick Gaughan

Dick Gaughan: R/evolution 1969-84, is an 8-disc box set that aims to preserve and celebrate Dick’s legacy as well as remunerate him fairly and squarely for that work. To celebrate, enjoy 26 KLOF Mag Mixtapes from over the years featuring the man himself.

Dick Gaughan’s greatest talent has to be his ability to share his music with skill, passion and humour. That fact is abundantly clear on The Harvard Tapes, a unique and unmissable opportunity to relish a vintage Gaughan performance.

Greentrax Records are to release a new Dick Gaughan live album that was recorded in 1982 which, as well as featuring some of his all-time greats, includes previously unrecorded songs and a duet with the late great Johnny Cunningham.

Despite Dick Gaughan’s ‘Handful of Earth’ being released 38 years ago, these songs still reflect the times, still call out the oppressors and still support the oppressed.

Watch Dick Gaughan performing Childhood’s End at the recent Far, Far From Ypres Stage Show. Dick had a stroke in 2016 which has prevented him from performing so this will be a real treat to fans of whom he has many. Great to have him back!

In 2010, Dick received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC’s annual folk awards and whilst we may never see or hear Dick Gaughan perform live again, due to his ill health, this compilation CD is ample evidence, if evidence were needed, of what a terrific artist he is.

With Street Cries, Ashley Hutchings revisits his 2001 album and produces some powerful new lyrics and, with the help of his collaborators (including Steve Knightley, June Tabor, Dick Gaughan, Cara Dillon and the late Vin Garbutt), he creates a collection of powerful and unique performances.

Dick Gaughan, Blue Rose Code and Dean Owens are to perform at a special show on Friday 6th May in Edinburgh. As well as separate sets from each of these proud Leithers, there may also be some surprise collaborations.

Joy of Living pays tribute to iconic folk singer, songwriter and activist Ewan MacColl with a host of performers from the world of folk music and beyond including Karine Polwart, members of the Waterson: Carthy clan, Christy Moore, Steve Earle & more!
