We re-join the Dead Rat Orchestra on their canals and waterways tour ‘The Cut’. Today DRO member Robin Alderton shares his thoughts with us in this special guest blog feature.

In the first of a series of feature guest posts from the Dead Rat Orchestra we join them on The Cut – a canals and waterways tour from London to Bristol, crafting music from extensive research into these industrial and leisure arteries.

This summer Dead Rat Orchestra will undertake a unique 273-mile tour across the canals and waterways from London to Bristol and Oxford with a triumphant finale at the Arnolfini, Bristol.

Cambridge Folk Festival release the line-up for this year’s Den Stage focusing on new and emerging talent. A great line-up which regular listeners will already be familiar with many of the acts.

Thanks to Nathaniel Mann of the Dead Rat Orchestra you can witness the bizarre and beautiful haunting sound of pigeon flight drawn in sound across the London sky on Friday 21st June!

Sin-Eater Festival kicks off on the Summer Solstice featuring 25 top left-field acts that many listeners will be familiar with! Trembling Bells, Rachael Dadd, Dead Rat Orchestra, Cath & Phil Tyler and many more!

Friday 14th June sees a great event at café thing featuring Folk Radio UK favourite The Great Park along with Nathaniel Robin Mann (Dead Rat Orchestra) & Dubious Caesar. Worth checking!

This weeks Nest Collective Hour will have a bird theme. It is presented by Sam Lee and features a live session from You Are Wolf, she will be performing songs from her bird project.

The Dead Rat Orchestra are well known for their unconventional approach to music and their latest release ‘The Guga Hunters of Ness’ which originally took the form of a film score is the perfect example of them at their innovative best.
