Damien Jurado is releasing his new album, “Private Hospital,” in an innovative book format. The album is the final instalment of his five-part “Reggae Film Star” pentalogy. Jurado is moving away from traditional physical formats like vinyl, citing environmental concerns and a desire to release music in more “constructive, fun, and environmentally conscious ways.”

Damien Jurado announces his 17th album ‘The Monster Who Hated Pennsylvania’. The self-produced album is to be released on his new label Maraqopa Records. An album with a dry, homespun ambience, listen to lead single Helena.

Jurado is the perfect songwriter for these strange times. He is wistful without ever wallowing in nostalgia, and he balances heartbreak with hope in a way that few artists can. This represents some of his finest work to date.

Having spent several restless years in search and motion, it would seem Jurado has finally found a shore on which to set anchor and land, the fact that he wrote these songs many years ago fittingly echoing the sense of waiting for time to unfold its plans.
