Catriona Mckay & Chris Stout

Shetland fiddler Chris Stout and harpist extraordinaire Catriona McKay return with a new duo album Bare Knuckle from which we take our Tune of the Day. Watch them performing Louise’s Waltz, recorded live in a cottage in Cellardyke, Scotland.

Kings Place will be playing host to a selection of fine folk artists from the core to cutting edge this winter including: Boys of the Lough, Emily Portman Trio, Emily Smith Band and more.

Chris Stout is delighted to have been asked by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra to compose a piece of music especially for them and he also releases a new album this week: Chris Stout’s Brazilian Theory – Live In Concert

Weaving the Land is the first in a new series of mixes from Folk Radio UK. The mixes explore traditional music and its connection to the land. Whether it is recalling memories of it or the longing for return to the homeland. The first mix opens to Irish poet Seamus Heaney and features Liam O’flynn, Kathryn Tickell, Kris Drever, Dick Gaughan and more.
