Bruce Cockburn

Tompkins Square’s enduring admiration for Canadian troubadour Bruce Cockburn is hardly news to anyone paying attention. To commemorate Cockburn’s 80th birthday this week, they enlisted contemporary guitar maestro Eli Winter to offer his interpretations of some of Cockburn’s beloved tracks. ‘To Keep the World We Know’ includes Winter’s take on “Foxglove” alongside a collection of entirely new recordings.

For the latest release in their Imaginational Anthem series, Tompkins Square invited James Toth to curate a tribute album to the legendary Bruce Cockburn. Listen to Jerry David DeCicca (feat. Bill Callahan) performing a cover of Forty Years in the Wilderness.

Approaching his 78th birthday this month, Bruce Cockburn returns with ‘O Sun O Moon’, a terrific album, featuring a number of very special guests…possibly one of his best.

Bone On Bone is a powerful declaration from a mature observer of human nature. It’s gutsy and incisive with Bruce Cockburn delving into his musical roots and his personal concerns and ladled with beaucoups of blues and folk.  On the strength of this, he well deserves his induction into The Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
