Scottish smallpipes player Brìghde Chaimbeul shares her latest single from her forthcoming album, Sunwise. An old vocal dance song dating from 1934 ‘She Went Astray’ “is all about the rhythm of the language.”

The innovative Scottish smallpipes player and experimental music purveyor Brìghde Chaimbeul has a busy few months ahead. She’ll be making plenty of festival appearances, delivering both solo and collaborative performances. We take a look back at her album releases to date.

Brìghde Chaimbeul’s ‘Carry Them with Us’, is an extraordinary experience that has slowly begun to resemble a series of strange, beautiful dream-stories, told with flair, nuance and incredible technical proficiency, but more importantly, with a real sense of ambition and innovation.

Our Tune of the Day comes from Scottish smallpipes player and experimental music purveyor Brìghde Chaimbeul, who announces her new album ‘Carry Them With Us’ (out 14 April) and shares her first single & video “Tha Fonn Gun Bhi Trom (I Am Disposed of Mirth)”.

With LAS, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Ross Ainslie and Steven Byrnes have delivered a highly accomplished album that, probably more than any other you’ll hear this year, unifies innovation and tradition.

Brìghde Chaimbeul, Ross Ainslie and Steven Byrnes Haberlin have teamed up on the collaborative album LAS. The album is out Friday 2 September, the self-penned instrumental album is the first album of double C smallpipes to be released in the world.

Starting in July, James Yorkston’s Tae Sup Wi’ A Fifer takes to the road again featuring Gruff Rhys, Salena Godden, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Josie Long, Jeffrey Lewis and Kathryn Joseph.

Our Tune of the Day is The Green Light Set, performed by Ross Ainslie, Brìghde Chaimbeul and Steven Byrnes. It opens to three tunes by Ross and ends on a tune by Damien O’Kane called Castlerock Road.
