In 2019, Fran Foote and her mother Belinda Kempster, released an album featuring English folk songs, one of which was “Knife in the Window” which Fran learned from her great uncle Ernie Austin who also recorded an album for Topic Records in 1974.
Today sees the release of On Clay Hill, the debut album from Stick in the Wheel band member Fran Foote and her mother Belinda Kempster. Watch their new music video for John Barleycorn.
Fran Foote of Stick in the Wheel and her mother Belinda Kempster, make their own contribution to the folk tradition with this album of songs mostly collected from Essex and learned from Fran’s great uncle, Ernie Austin who was recorded by Topic for the 1974 album Flash Company.
