Allysen Callery

Our Song of the Day is “How Did We Get Here”. It comes from Allysen Callery who is joined by friend & producer Myles Baer who she has worked with since her early days.

Allysen Callery’s “Ghost Folk” casts a mesmerising spell, impossible to resist, and yet also conjures subtleties and substance that demand your closer investigation.

This week’s Folk Show features rituals, Cuckoos, poachers, Lapwings, Gypsies and a Golden Plover to name just a few of the themes that crop up in the folk songs we’ve pulled together. We’ve also got a sneak peek at some advance releases from Martin Simpson, Tom Russell, The Young’uns and Mairearad Green and Mike Vass plus more.

New England singer-songwriter Allysen Callery is back with an outstanding new release. Prince’s Pine is a five-track EP, a bright sounding recording with flashes of welcome darkness.

Allysen Callery returns with her new album ‘The Song the Songbird Sings’ for which we also have an exclusive album stream. Her reputation is sure to grow with this release which calls to mind the late 60’s/70’s progressive folk.

Our Song of the Day is ‘Bluest Bird’ from Allysen Callery which is taken from her forthcoming new album The Song the Songbird Sings. The album will be released via Jellyphant Records (date to be announced)

Dillon is joined by the wonderful Allysen Callery in session for what is, sadly, his final Simple Folk Radio show, or at the very least he’s going to let it slip into that murky grey area of indefinite hiatus whilst he looks into starting a new program for the radio.

On the latest Simple Folk Radio show Dillon features, amongst some FRUK regulars, a brilliant concept EP from Adam Gnade that was released with little to no fanfare a couple of years ago.

We have a fantastic session for you from Allysen Callery which also marks a new direction as she intertwines her love of psychedelic and trad folk. This is magical…Enjoy!

In part 4 of our Best Albums of 2013 we feature Cara Luft, Lo’Jo, Sam Amidon, The Memory Band, Sharron Kraus, Cocos Lovers, MG Boulter, The Paul McKenna Band, Allysen Callery and more.

Our Song of the Day is a gorgeous version of Long Black Veil, performed by the wonderful Allysen Callery with backing vocals from Kelly Cleveland of Red Eye Flight.

Allysen Callery has recorded a new track on which she performs a very fine rendition of ‘The Deserter’, a traditional song that also appeared on that classic 1969 album Liege & Lief by Fairport Convention.
