Adam Holmes & the Embers are about to embark on a short Scottish tour before a summer of festival shows. So this seemed the perfect time to ask him a few questions about the new album ‘Brighter Still’.

Adam has gained confidence in his own ability and taken his music forward on Brighter Still. Not in a new direction, but off on a gentle tangent that explores what else can be achieved when the quality of the song writing leaves ample space for adventure.

We have a song premiere today from the wonderful Heidi Talbot. Her new single ‘Christmas in September’ was written by Boo Hewerdine and produced by John McCusker. It’s released on 23rd November through Under One Sky Records.

Adam Holmes & The Embers continue to follow up the success of last year’s debut album, Heirs & Graces, with live dates up and down the country. On Friday night it was the chance for a Glasgow audience to enjoy the band, thanks to The Fallen Angels Club at the thriving Centre for Contemporary Arts; with up and coming solo performer Genesee providing the opening set.

With Despite the Dark, Rura have not only produced an album of its time for Scotland, but one with the musical breadth and strength to ensure it will appeal to a far wider audience. This is a band growing in stature and confidence, brimming with originality and innovation.

We have a very special FRUK session today from Adam Holmes & The Embers in which they perform three songs from their critically acclaimed 2014 album Heirs and Graces.

One of this year’s most significant and far reaching commissions at Celtic Connections was ‘The Atlantic Corridor’ curated by Carlos Núñez. Along with a fine list of special guests it was an unforgettable evening.

In celebration of Burns Night and, more importantly, to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, Adam Holmes & The Embers have recorded Burns’ finest love song, Ae Fond Kiss.
