There’s really no better place to spend a day than in Sidmouth during the first week of August! Everyone is welcome in the popular East Devon seaside town as residents, holidaymakers and festival goers join together to make Sidmouth FolkWeek the friendliest and best music-based holiday of the summer.

I head off to WOMAD tomorrow with a long list of acts to see from around the globe. As with previous years, I doubt I will be physically able to see them all and I’m sure to discover plenty of new music along the way. I guess that the song ‘Echoes’ is about the pain of letting go of a relationship that isn’t working. The lyrics were still forming when I came to the session, and that gives the performance a bit more immediacy and spontaneity than a song that has settled.
